CIHEAM official visit to Spain: Exchanges and avenues of collaboration on priority areas

After a visit to the CIHEAM Institute in Zaragoza and a meeting with the staff to discuss the numerous projects underway in the fields of training and cooperation, the Secretary General of the CIHEAM, Plácido Plaza, and the Spanish Delegate of the CIHEAM, María José Hernández were invited by the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food in Madrid.

Plácido Plaza elected CIHEAM Secretary General

On 22 February 2019, at the 42nd Governing Board meeting of the International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM) held in Paris, Plácido Plaza was elected unanimously as new Secretary General of the CIHEAM

Advanced International Course on Social Innovation in Rural Areas

A one-week training course will be organised in the framework of the H2020 EU-funded project Social Innovation in Marginalised Rural Areas (SIMRA) at the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Zaragoza (IAMZ-CIHEAM) on 18-22 November 2019 to address the importance of social innovation in less-favoured rural areas.

IAMZ welcomes experts from all over the world to discuss restoration of degraded drylands

From 5 to 10 February IAMZ-CIHEAM, together with IUCN (Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature), ICARDA (International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas) and with the collaboration of  SER Europe (European Chapter of the Society for Ecological Restoration) held a course on Restoration of degraded drylands and monitoring of desertification processes.

I Spanish Symposium on Cereal Physiology and Breeding

The FiRCMe Network on Yield and Quality Physiology for Cereal Breeding and CIHEAM'S Network on Legumes and Cereals have jointly organised the I Spanish Symposium on Cereal Physiology and Breeding. This symposium is open to the whole Mediterranean scientific community interested in these topics, although contributions from non-Mediterranean countries are also welcome.
